21st Century Curriculum

Philosophy of Curriculum

The overarching goal is to provide students with comprehensive and integrated courses of study. We explore and develop innovative and proven educationally-sound programs, which strengthen a child’s education. The curriculum serves to enhance the twenty-first century classroom, which is both dynamic and college-preparatory. In short, the curriculum embraces change while it upholds tradition.

“The Curriculum of today must prepare students for the world of tomorrow.”

Curriculum Commendations

In November of 2011, St. Paul’s Episcopal School was recognized by SACS (Southern Association of Schools and Colleges) for several significant curriculum advancements, which demonstrate the school’s commitment to a comprehensive and innovative education.

  • Curriculum Specialist - To ensure that skills and knowledge learned by students build from one grade and level to the next, the Curriculum Specialist coordinates all aspects of the courses of study by working closely with teachers and administrators from the Lower to Upper School.
  • Benchmarks - In order to provide the highest form of accountability and excellence, PreK-12 teachers developed a set of benchmarks or standards of what every student should know or be able to do by the end of the year. SACS awarded St. Paul’s high praise for documenting the benchmarks in an effort to analyze the curriculum and make changes when necessary. Therefore, the curriculum at St. Paul’s is not static but evolves as it is constantly evaluated by the teachers and the administration.
  • Innovation - SACS noted two programs - Writer’s Stylus and Rosetta Stone - as examples of St. Paul’s moving beyond the more traditional approaches in order to provide students with the most up-to-date education possible. Moreover, both programs are part of St. Paul’s pledge to create a curriculum that engages, prepares, and inspires.
